Marilyn E. Scowden, 81, of Lafayette, died at 6:35 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012, at IU Health Hospital.

She was born April 2, 1931, in Lafayette, to the late Francis and Helen Klinker.

She graduated from St. Francis High School in Lafayette.

On January 16, 1988, she married Max Scowden in Williamsport who survives. Marilyn worked at Landis and Gyr for ten years. She enjoyed Antiquing and spending time with her family.

Surviving along with the spouse are five daughters, Pat (husband: Ken) Nagy, of Arizona, Janet (husband: Jim) Proffitt, of Flora; daughter, Debbie (husband: Paul) Swain, of Chalmers, Anita (husband: Robbie) Bloyd, of Battleground, and Cindy (husband: Michael) Kenworthy, of Bringhurst; three sons, Bernie (wife: Sharen) Demerly, of Frankfort, Craig (wife: Candace) Demerly, of Colorado, and Chris (wife: Tammy) Demerly, of Brookston; stepson, Michael (wife: Catalina) Scowden, of Indianapolis; two sisters, Marie Schubach, of Lafayette and Elizabeth (husband: Bob) Meadows, of Florida; two brothers, Chuck (wife: Judy) Klinker, of Lafayette; a brother, Andy (wife: Pat) Klinker, of Mulberry; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Francis and Helen Klinker; two brothers; and a sister.

Visitation will be Wednesday 5 to 8 p.m. at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Funeral Service 10 a.m. Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Burial will be at Pretty Prairie Cemetery near Battle Ground.
