ELWOOD PIONEER SUCCUMBS HERE

Mrs. Catherine Hettmansperger, 89, for more than 50 year a resident of Elwood died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank B. Russell, 322 North Independence street, at 9:20 a.m., today. Mrs. Hettmansperger had suffered a severe heart attack late Tuesday night but was believed to be recovering. She had resided at the Russell home for the past three years.

Mrs. Hettmansperger was born Jan. 30, 1856, in northern Wabash county to George and Caroline Schwenk and resided in Wabash county until her marriage to Charles Hettmansperger more than 65 years ago. The couple resided in Nebraska and later in Anderson and Elwood. Mr. Hettmansperger died in March, 1924.

Mrs. Hettmansperger was a member of St. John's Lutheran church at Elwood, and also belonged to church societies. She attended schools in Wabash county.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Russell, and Mrs. Walter H. Botorff of Longview, Wash.; one son, George Hettmansperger, of Elwood; one sister, Mrs. Callie Owens, of Shreveport; nine grandchildren, James C. Russell, now on duty in the Pacific area, Mrs. E. F. Rogers of Toledo, O., Mrs. Wayne Cunningham of Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. Karl Kantner of Noblesville, Lieut. Frederick Hettmansperger of Ft. Ord, Cal., Mrs. John Hill, Mrs. Fred Hollman and Robert Botorff, all of Longview, Wash., and Allen Bottorff of Tulare, Cal., and 11 great-grandchildren.

The body was removed to Young's funeral home but arrangements were delayed pending word from relatives on the west coast.

LAST RITES HELD FOR MRS. HETTMANSPERGER

Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Hettmansperger, 89, mother of Mrs. Frank B. Russell of Tipton, were held at St. John's Lutheran church in Elwood Sunday. Burial followed in the mausoleum at Elwood cemetery.
