MRS H S DOVER PIONEER LYERLY RESIDENT DIES
SUMMERVILLE, Ga. Jan 3-
The death of Mrs H. S. Dover at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John T. Bryant at Lyerly this morning at 6 o'clock, removes from this county one of its oldest pioneer citizens and beloved women. Mrs Dover lacked only until next April 10 of being 90 years of age.
Her husband died about three years ago at the advanced are of about 89 years. Mrs Dover had been in feeble health for several months but her death was hastened by an attack of pneumonia which developed earlier in the week.
Mrs Dover had seven living children and seven dead more than fifty grandchildren nearly one hundred great-grandchildren and quite a number of great-great-grandchildren living. She remembered very clearly the presence of Indians in this country when she was a girl, then a resident of Cherokee county, Georgia.
Prior to Mr. Dover's death the venerable couple annually celebrated their birthday anniversary on April 10, which was Mrs. Dover's birthday. Mr Dover's birthday was on April 9, making him one year and one day older than his wife at the time of his death.
Funeral services will be conducted at Lyerly Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock, the Rev. Cooper of Crystal Springs officiating. Interment will be in the Lyerly cemetery.
Mrs. Dover is Survived by the following children: Mrs A E Doster and John T Bryant of Lyerly: Mrs Annie King and Mrs Monroe Fox of Calhoun: Mrs. M. E. Stark and D. D. Dover of Atlanta and H. A. Dover of Montezuma, Ga.
