DECATUR - Lois B. "Mag" Cleary, 87 of Decatur, died at 10:55 am Sunday, May 2, 2004 in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Dennis Kollross at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 10-11 at the church. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to DMH Hospice. Mag was born in Moline, Illinois on January 15, 1917, the daughter of Gust and Adeline Magnuson. She married William T. Cleary, Jr. on February 14, 1942 in Peoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1985. She was a graduate of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Peoria in 1937 and was a Pediatrics RN at Decatur Memorial Hospital retiring in 1979. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross after retiring from DMH. She was a member of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church and was President of the St. Thomas School Mother's Club while her children attended St. Thomas School. Mag's life was centered around her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. She will always be loved and remembered by her family as a loving mother and grandmother. She will be remembered by her many friends as a kind, loving person who was always available to help them in any manner she could. She is survived by her six children; Jana Sexton and husband Michael of Littleton, Co; Kevin Cleary and wife Kathi, Timothy Cleary, Gregory Cleary and wife Leighia, Charles Cleary and wife Sue, and James Cleary, all of the Decatur area; grandchildren Sarah Sexton and husband Matthew Lawton, Thomas Sexton, Brian Cleary and wife Amy, Jill Cleary Piper and husband Chris, Brigid Cleary Sweeney and husband Brad, Tiffany Cleary, James Cleary, Elizabeth Cleary, Christine Cleary, William Cleary, Bradley Cleary, Emily Cleary and Amos Berrymand; 5 great-grandchildren with another soon to be born; brother Ernest Magnuson and wife Edna of Nalcrest, FL. Mag's family would like to express a very special thank you to Dr. Stephen Goetter and the staff of 4100 at Decatur Memorial Hospital for their kindness, compassion, outstanding care and emotional support. A celebration of Mag's life for all friends and family will be held at Chuck and Sue Cleary's home, 5222 N. Coulters Mill Rd., Oreana, after the interment until the late evening hours.
