MINONK —Mary E. Ritter, 87, of Minonk, formerly of Dana, died at 4:40 a.m. Thursday, April 30, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minonk.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Solon, Baker & Telford Funeral Home, Streator, with visitation from 9 to 11. Monsignor Jerome Ham will officiate.Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Born March 1, 1922, in Sunbury Township, she was the daughter of John Harold and Marie Clara (Breen) Trainor. She married Kenneth C. Ritter on April 24, 1944, in Santa Maria, Calif. He died March 13, 2007.
She is survived by one daughter, Janice (Virgil) Cave of Dana; sons, Larry (Jane) Ritter of Mountain Home, Ark., and K.C. Ritter of Pontiac; grandchildren, Michael, Andy, Ben, Amber and Meghan Cave, Melanie Layton and Shephanie, Brent and Kent Ritter; five great-grandchildren; one special great-grandson, Bray Cave; a sister, Joan Brattenhaur of Elgin; and one brother, Donald (Shirley) Trainor of Cornell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Edna Palochko, Geraldine Santelman and Marjorie Morris; and one brother, Harold "Harley" Trainor.
Born in Sunbury Township, she lived many years in the Sunbury, Streator and Dana areas. She and her husband also lived in Mountain Home, Ark., for 31 years.
She worked for the Joliet Arsenal many years ago.
She was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church in Mountain Home. Through the years, Mary was an avid volunteer working with the Baxter County Hospital. She also volunteered at facilities for special needs individuals.
