William used his middle name for most of his life.

Wallace was a veteran of the Civil War. He was mustered into the 19th Independent Ohio Light Artillery on Aug. 11, 1862 and was mustered out with the battery at wars end on June 27, 1865.

He married Amelia Wicken on Apr. 23, 1867 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, OH. Unnfortuneately, she died just a few years later.

William got married for a second time to Mary Elsie Ingersoll on Dec. 16, 1874 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, OH.
