Mrs. Burns was born March 6, 1898 near Emmetsburg to Mr. and Mrs. James Brennan and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, Emmetsburg. She attended Normal Training School and taught for several years. She was married to Bernard A. Burns June 19, 1922 and moved to the Estherville area in 1923.
She had been a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar and Rosary Society.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Joseph of Rolling Meadows, Ill., and James of Lexington, Mass.; three daughters, Sister Elizabeth Mary of Farmington Hills, Mich., Mrs. Charles (Mary) Berg of Terril and Mrs. W. Carl (Margaret) Lenz of Onawa; 24 grandchildren; four brothers, John, James, Maurice and Francis Brennan, all of Emmetsburg; four sisters, Mrs. Joseph Walsh, Mr. Homer Milham, Emmetsburg, Mrs. Roland Jackson, Spencer, and Mrs. James Clark, Homewood, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
A rosary will be said by the Catholic Daughters of America at 4:30 p.m. today at Furhrman Funeral Home and another rosary will be said at 8 o’clock tonight. Friends may call at Furhrman Funeral Home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 3, 1975)
