Born Dec. 16, 1940, in Butler, she was the daughter of Charles Clifford and Guyla Morrow Aggas.
She was a lifetime member of Springdale Lutheran Church and a 1959 graduate of Butler High School.
She had worked as a secretary for Barron Radio, and later at the Bon-Ton Christmas Shop for more than 10 years.
Mrs. Patten operated a roadside sweet corn stand at the former Aggas Service Station, which she had operated for 29 years.
She enjoyed gardening, lawn work and traveling.
Surviving are her husband, Duane A. Patten, whom she married Nov. 8, 1963; a son, Daryl Patten of Butler; a daughter, Mrs. Scott (Renee) Campbell of Monterey, Calif.; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Lucas Patten; her mother, Mrs. Guyla Aggas of Chicora; a brother, James Robert Aggas of West Mifflin; three sisters, Virginia Hobbs and Mrs. Robert (Carol) Scott, both of Butler, and Mrs. Robert (Vera) Niggel of Chicora; a sister-in-law, Peg Aggas of Butler; a brother-in-law, Gary Shay of Fenelton; her father-in-law, Paul Patten of Butler; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her father, Charles Clifford Aggas, a brother, Charles Clifford Aggas Jr., and a sister, Geraldine Marie Shay, preceded her in death.
PATTEN - Friends of Shirley J. Patten, who died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Springdale Lutheran Church, West Sunbury, with the Rev. David Adams, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Concord Cemetery in Hooker.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury, PA 16061, or to the Alliance for Lung Cancer Advocacy, Support and Education, Unit 78, P.O. Box 4800, Portland, Oregon 92708-4800.
