Elsie Christina Broeckel Mock was born on Oct. 27, 1924, in Dusty, Wash., to Wilhelm "Bill" and Amalia Broeckel. She was the first daughter to be born into the family with four older brothers. She grew up in the Dusty-LaCrosse area and after graduating from LaCrosse High School, she worked as a bookkeeper at McCaw General Hospital. Later, she met the love of her life, Darrell Mock, and they were married Jan. 20, 1946, in LaCrosse, Wash. They had two sons, Stanley Clyde Mock and Michael Darrell Mock. Elsie and Darrell were very devoted to each other and were rarely apart. They worked side-by-side at Mock's Beeline Service Station in Waitsburg and in life. They lived in Chula Vista, Calif., and in Walla Walla. They loved their motorhome and were members of the Walla Walla Elks RV club. Elsie was a very loving, caring and giving person who always tried to help others when they were down or sick by making soup or "goodies" to make them feel better. She was a Christian woman who loved God. Elsie and Darrell were married 65 years before Darrell passed away. She moved to Boise to be closer to her son,and his family. She passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, in Boise at age 88.

She is survived by her son and wife,two granddaughters,five great-grandsons, 1 great-granddaughter, two brothers and numerous relatives and friends. Preceding her in death was her husband, Darrell Otis Mock, son Michael Darrell Mock, father and mother, brothers, Albert "Albie", Paul, Julius,and Wilbur Broeckel and sister Ruth Broeckel Murray.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at the Waitsburg Christian Church. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. And the service will begin at 11 a.m. A light lunch will be served after the service at the church before going to the Waitsburg Cemetery gravesite.
