Funeral services for Betty Sue Danford, age 77, of Buffalo, Texas have been set for 2 PM, Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo. Pastor of the church, Rev. Ralph Hale, will officiate and burial will follow in the Dew Cemetery. A visitation for Mrs. Danford will be held at the Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 PM until 8 PM.
Serving as pallbearers are Paul Stroade, Randy Stroade, Daniel Stroade, Drew Dawson, Dakota Champion, Byron Lenox, Todd Pruett and Tanner Self. Honorary pallbearers are M.J. Bridges, David Copeland, Trey Cadenhead, Sammy Johnson, Gary Danford and Kenneth Stroade.
Betty Sue Danford was born in Dew, Texas on September 6, 1935. Her parents were William Richard and Inez (Cadenhead) Moore. She had lived in Buffalo since 1963 and was a member of the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church. Betty volunteered at The Lord's Pantry. She was also a member of the Buffalo Chapter #157 Order of Eastern Star. Betty worked in Buffalo for the Postal Service as a postal clerk. She was also a bookkeeper at Cadenhead Feed Store. She enjoyed gardening, playing dominoes, attending gospel singings and traveling on group bus tours. She also followed her children and grandchildren to all of their sporting events.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ernest Paul Dawson; second husband, Merle Scott Danford and two brothers, William Ben Moore and Louis Clayton Moore. She passed away on December 18, 2012 in a Tyler hospital.
Surviving family members include a son, E.E. "Butch" Dawson of Buffalo, Texas; two daughters, Paula Sue Stroade of Montgomery, Texas and Pamela Gaile Stewart and her husband, Lonnie, of Buffalo, Texas; two step-sons, Gary Scott Danford of Buffalo, New York and Marcus Danford of Deming, New Mexico; two sisters, Nelda Jean Orr and her husband, William, of Mexia, Texas and Dorothy Helen Newman and her husband, Wesley, of Buffalo, Texas; eight grandsons; seven granddaughters and sixteen great grandchildren.
