ROCK FALLS - Alvade A. Adami, 88, of Rock Falls, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at CGH Medical Center.
She was born June 20, 1921, in Trimountain, Mich., the daughter of Olinto and Ida (Marchini) Taddeucci. She married Sestilo J. Adami on Dec. 6, 1938, in Sterling He died Aug. 8, 2000. Alvade and her late husband, Gig, were the founders and co-owners of the former Gigs' Pizza in Rock Falls from 1967 to 1980.
She was very active in her faith community at St. Andrew Church, having, along with her husband, served as past chairpersons of the church's annual spaghetti dinners; past co-chairperson of the parish weekly pinochle parties; a past team captain of the former "Mary-Andrew" bowling league; a member of the Altar and Rosary Society; and a member of the former Garibaldi Society (League of Italian Women).
In the hearts of those who knew and loved her, it was no coincidence that she passed away on "All Saints Day."
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Alvade was truly family oriented and devoted to them and her friends. She was a gourmet cook, baker, a talented singer and dancer. She enjoyed hosting parties, entertaining, and sharing her homemade "feasts." Alvade was very proud of her Italian heritage, a successful businesswoman, and politically active, having served as a past election worker. She had a flair for decorating, organizing, and was a "green thumb gardener."
She is now watching over her family and "dancing" once again with her husband Gig, in heaven.
Surviving are her two daughters, Sharon E. Adami and Lauri A. Adami, both of Rock Falls; her three sons, Darold P. (Patti) Adami of Sherman, Texas, Edwin (Sue) Adami of Rock Falls, and Steven (Cindy) Adami of Rockford; one sister, Ada Adami of Oak Forest; 13 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and one sister, Marina Palmero.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.
Memorials in her memory may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church, Rock Falls, or the American Heart Association.
