Bessie Maudine Haney Martin is the daughter of John Russell and Mary Eveline Vaughn Haney. She married Earnest Tilton Martin on December 29, 1929. Together they had five daughters; Gladys Maylene, Betty Sue, Imogene "Jean", Carol June and Linda Gail, and one son David Keith.
They moved from Marion County, AL to Moline, IL in the 1950's. Bessie worked at the former Moline Public Hospital in the cafeteria department for 13 years, retiring in 1975. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading, especially the Bible.
Bessie and Earnest moved to Windfield, AL after their retirement and lived there until their health declined. They moved to Cabot, AK and then back to Moline, IL until their deaths.
Survivors include 19 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and a sister Odie Beasley.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, a daughter; Carol June Aldridge, granddaughter; Charlotte Maddox.
