Joyce Stonehocker was born Sept. 30, 1944 to Blaine McNeil and Grace Black McNeil in SLC, UT. Joyce passed away Dec. 17, 2012. Joyce graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in English and Master's Degree in Education. She taught English for the Granite School District for 31 years, where she received teacher of the year awards and other honors for her brilliant teaching. Her students, colleagues and everyone who knew her, loved, respected and adored her. She also served for several years as the language arts curriculum leader of the Granite School district. She loved cooking, antiquing, gardening, reading and entertaining. She was a gracious, faithful loving daughter of our Heavenly Father, who devoted her life to making others lives better. She set a perfect example of courage, strength, faith and gratitude even to her last breath. Joyce was preceded in death by her father; survived by her mother, her sister, Carrol; her niece Julia; her nephews, James, Stephen, David, John, Timothy and their 10 children; also cousins, aunts, and uncles who adored her.
A viewing will be held Friday Dec. 21st at Russon Brothers, 295 North Main, Bountiful from 6 - 8 pm. Memorial service is at 11 am, Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Ensign Peak Ward, 125 E. North Sandrun Road, SLC, UT., where a viewing will be held 9:45 to 10:45 am prior to services.
