Ray Jean Brooks, 73, of Winchester died Wednesday, December 12 after a long illness.
Ray Jean was born in 1939, in Dillon, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Raymond Lee Stone
and Ila Mae Prince. She retired from Western Union Electronic Mail Inc. as a computer operator and attended Wesley United Methodist Church. She loved bowling and camping with her husband and collecting bells and objects depicting butterflies.
Her husband Harry Burnett Brooks, Jr. preceded her in death on November 10, 2006.
Surviving are her daughter Cindy Jackson and husband Steve of Wendell, North Carolina and son, John Brooks and wife Danielle of Stephens City, Virginia; two sisters, Diane Hamilton and husband Wade of Florence, South Carolina, Betty Zielinski of Florence, South Carolina; a brother David Stone and wife Jean of Florence, South Carolina; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn Brooks and husband Bob of Winchester, Virginia and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
