Obituary - Bernice Shaw (1933-2009) Mildred Bernice Shaw, 75 year old Simms homemaker, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 at Waldo Funeral Home. Rev. Willie Rhodes of Paris will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Mark Lyle of the Mena Church of God and Rev. Kerry Phillips, of the Farmers Branch Church of God. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery with Kevin Phillips, Chris Adams, Aaron Shaw, Justin Shaw, Josh Shaw, and Charles Michael Christen serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Simms and New Boston, Texas volunteer fire departments. Bernice was born on Sept. 12, 1933, in Wickes, Ark., the daughter of the late Ernest and Mildred (Bryant) Rose. She married Rev. T.M. Shaw on Jan. 3, 1949, in Wicks, Ark. Bernice was a devoted pastor's wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Church of God. Surviving are her husband, Rev. T.M. Shaw of Simms; daughter Gail Phillips and husband Dean of Farmers Branch; sons, Tommy Shaw and wife Laura of Simms, and Jeff Shaw and wife Debra of Simms; 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sisters, Mae Lyle and Pauline Smedley of Arkansas, Ozie Crawford and Donna Davis of Texas, and Virginia Stevenson of Oklahoma; brother, Buford Rose of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs Shaw was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Gail Shaw and her sister, Iola Cantrell. The family will recieve friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Waldo Funeral Home.
