181 Abigail Nims was born April 29, 1758 at Deerfield, MA and died March 11, 1831 at Waitsfield, VT. She was the daughter of Daniel Nims and Charity Childs. Abigail married Jared Skinner on November 19, 1779 at Shelburne, MA. Jared Skinner was born November 18, 1751 in Colchester, CT and died on February 25, 1838 at Waitsfield, VT.

[Her husband] Jared Skinner was a Revolutionary War soldier. He mustered in on Jan 8 1777 with Capt. John Wells to serve at the garrison at Ticonderoga. He was discharged on April 1, 1777. When he enlisted again it was as a Sergeant in Capt. James Walworth's company that went to New London, CT. He entered on July 22 and was discharged Aug 27, 1779. For his service he received a pension of $24 per year. In his pension application there were other episodes of service including an enlistment in August 1776 when he went to Quaker Hill and built a breastwork and then marched with General Washington to White Plains.

The Skinner family removed from Shelburne, MA in 1796 to Waitsfield, Vt. Jared acted as town treasurer in Waitsfield in 1798 and 1803 and selectman in 1797, 1799, 1800.
