Marvin L. Winslow, 70, long time Peckham farmer, died Thursday morning at Weld County General Hospital. He farmed at Peckham for 35 years and was president of the Big Bend School Board for 22 years.
Born Nov. 14, 1890, in Gosper County, Neb., Winslow had lived in this community since 1900. He and the former Eva Bright, were married Feb. 14, 1917, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Bright, at Peckham. They purchased a farm at Peckham in 1918, residing there until June 1, 1946. At that time, the Winslows moved to their present home in Greeley, but retained an interest in their farm until it was sold in 1955. Winslow was an executive officer of the Western Mutual Ditch Company for 30 years and served as its president for more than 10 years. He was a member of the First Methodist Church.
Besides his wife, Winslow is survived by two children, Mrs. George (Jean) Barber of Greeley and Douglas Winslow of LaSalle; seven grandchildren; and two brothers and two sisters, Pearl Winslow of Brighton, Bryan Winslow of La Salle, Mrs. Dena Kidd of Aurora and Mrs. Mary McKenney of La Mesa, Calif., and his step-mother, Mrs. Dorothy Winslow of the Greeley Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday from Macys Drawing Room, with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
