Jasper Durst

RUTLAND - Jasper (Jap) M. Durst, 86, of Rutland, died early Wednesday morning at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Pomeroy. He was born in Point Pleasant, a son of the late Henry and Elizabeth Stone Durst.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie and three sisters and four brothers. He was a member of the Middleport Nazarene Church, and a retired boilermaker for the New York Central Railroad.

He is survived by two sons, Dale of Zanesville and Clarence of Huntington, W.Va., and three daughters, Miss Garnet Darst of Louisville, Ky, and Mrs. Charles (Frances) Davidson and Mrs. John (Edna) Davidson both of Rutland.

He is also survived by five brothers, Harry of Middleport, and Charles, Dana, Barto and Wallace, all of Point Pleasant; 19 grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Rawlings-Coats Funeral Home in Middleport with the Rev. Audrey Miller officiating. Burial will be in Lone Oak Cemetery in Point Pleasant.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Thursday.
