A Jonesboro native, he had lived in Illinois for two years. He owned Jonesboro Studio of Guitar and Muzic Complex of Jonesboro for several years. He taught guitar in Jonesboro and was a member of several bands, including White River and The Puppets. He also worked as a sound and lighting technician for many years.
He attended St. Paul United Methodist Church and was a 1976 graduate of Jonesboro High School.
Survivors include a son, James Michael BOLING II of Jonesboro; a daughter, Heather Heringer of Jonesboro; and his father, James Glyn BOLING of Lake City.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Jewell Hogue BOLING.
