Leonard Keister Dies This morning; Rites Thursday
Leonard Keister, a lifetime resident of Jasper county residing at 618 N. College avenue, passed away in Jasper county hospital at approximately eleven o'clock this morning following gradually declining health dating from 1954.
Before retiring from the business field, Mr. Keister was engaged in trucking for a period of twenty-one years.
Mr. Keister was born in Jasper county January 23, 1886, the son of James Keister and Margaret (Timmons) Keister. He attended Jasper county schools and was married to Miss Lottie Steele in a cerermony that took place in Rensselaer February 17, 1908.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
The immediate survivors with Mrs. Keister are a son, Ray Keister, of Rensselaer; a daughter, Mrs. Raleigh (Martha) Phegley of Rensselaer; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Everett Keister, of Westfield, N.Y., and a sister, Mrs. William (Myrtle) Havens of Rensselaer. He was preceded in death by a son and a sister.
The funeral services will be held from Jackson Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Loran Campbell, pastor of Trinity Methodist church, will conduct the rites. Interment will be in Welsh cemetery. Friends will be received at Jackson Chapel after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
