Daughter of Nehemiah Hearne & Nancy Almond
Wife of: Archibald C. Freeman

T. C. Littel reported the unmarked grave stone is said to be Frances Hearne born 1816, daughter of Nehemiah Hearne, wife of Archibald C. Freeman (tradition says her name was misspelled so the stone was not accepted).

1850 Census-Stanly Co, NC:
Archd C Freeman 29, Ann H Freeman 29, Frances Freeman 3 & Henry Freeman 0. Her husband was listed as a merchant. Birth for Frances would be about 1821 rather than the 1816 as noted in the cemetery book 'These Hallowed Grounds'.

1860 Census-Stanly Co, NC:
A C Freeman 39, Nancy (Frances Ann) Freeman 38, Henry D Freeman 10 and Edmond J Freeman 8. Daughter Frances from the 1850 Census is missing. Did she die? Husband was listed as a farmer.

Per a cousin Lou Poole's research:
In the 1841 Civil Court case that I quoted, did you notice that “…Frances is also an infant under twenty one years of age and her mother the said Nancy is also her Guardian…”? That would mean Frances [Hearne] was born 1820, or later. Which means, I think, that the widely disseminated date of birth of 1816 is wrong.

Located her husband in the 1870 census. He’s listed as A. C. Fruman and his wife in 1870 was Elizabeth, age 28. (A C Fruman 49, wife Elizabeth Fruman 28, son from Frances-Henry Fruman 20, son from Frances-Edmund Fruman 18, daughter Mary Fruman 1 & a Sarah Carter 20)

This tells me that Frances Ann died between 1860 & 1870.

NOTE BY SHERLOCKS COUSIN-I agree with the death being between the 1860-1870 Census records and based on previous Census records, 1821 is more likely her birth year so I updated her year of birth to 1821.
