YORKTOWN — Mary Basta Borowski, 73, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001. A lifelong resident of York County, she was a charter member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church were she was active in the young at heart group and the women's club. Mrs. Borowski was also a former Cub Scout den mother and active in the York County Senior Center. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Borowski Sr.; two sons, John Borowski Jr. and Robert Stanley Borowski. A funeral Mass was held at 6:30 tonight, Feb. 26, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Father Don Michael Hanna officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News. Memorials may be made to the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church Building Fund, 315 Harris Grove Drive, Yorktown, VA 23692. Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, was in charge of the arrangements.
