LaFAYETTE -- Mrs. Gladys Smedley, 98, of LaFayette died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000 at George H. Lanier Nursing Home in Valley.
Graveside services were held Monday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. at LaFayette City Cemetery.
Mrs. Smedley is survived by her son, Tommy (Myrtle) Smedley of LaFayette; her sister, Mamie Wood of Montgomery, Ala.; two granddaughters, Teresa (Jamie) Herren of LaFayette and Renee Smedley of Montgomery; and three great-grandchildren, Stephen Herren, Jonathan Herren and Amanda Herren.
Born Aug. 2, 1902 in Chambers County, Mrs. Smedley was a graduate of Auburn University. She was a retired school teacher, retiring from the Lanett City School System. She was a member of the Chambers County Retired Teachers Association and First Baptist Church of LaFayette.
