"G. Pauline Halladay, 95, passed away in Coeur d'Alene, on Jan. 14, 2011.
Pauline was born in Monmouth, Ore., on Feb. 24, 1915, to Amos A. B. and Cora A. Morlan.
Pauline attended Oregon Normal School in Monmouth and graduated with a teaching degree.
She taught grade school in a one-room school in Pedee, Ore. She later graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in business.
Pauline married Glenn C. Halladay on Aug. 22, 1937, in Monmouth.
In 1941 the two moved to Bremerton, Wash. Pauline worked as a homemaker, while Glenn helped his father Stephen in the Navy Yard. While in Bremerton, Glenn and Pauline were blessed with two sons: Gary, in 1942, and then Robert, in 1944.
In 1945, the family relocated to Coeur d'Alene where Glenn started Allied Weldery Inc., a welding and machine shop where Pauline worked as the bookkeeper. In 1956, the couple was blessed with a long-awaited daughter, Glenda. Glenn and Pauline were instrumental in planning and development of the Lake City Senior Center that is still benefiting Coeur d'Alene senior citizens today.
Pauline was a Past Worthy Matron and life member of the Queen Esther Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was also a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Coeur d'Alene. She loved playing music on several different instruments and played with the Hill Millies band, a group of friends who played for charities benefiting cancer hospice. Pauline was an avid quilter but also loved knitting, crocheting and sewing. Through the years she enjoyed camping and stream fishing, and took pleasure in traveling during the winter months. She treasured visits with extended family members while living at the summer house in Del Cardo Bay on Lake Coeur d'Alene during the summer.
She is survived by her two sons: Gary and Bob; son-in-law John Sitton; eight grandchildren: Eric, Michelle, Bridget, Scott, Stephen, Diana, Sara and Emily; and five greatgrandchildren: Nicholas, Kayla, Tyler, Melanie and Nick.
