Margaret Louise - known as Peg as a child and Marge as an adult - was born at 10:15 am at 841 Camden St. in Akron, Ohio and was the only child of Berlin Scott & Florence Mabel (nee Harding) Flory.
Her mother died in childbirth when she was three and her father married Ruth Lee in 1921 when she was five and lived in Painesville and then Geneva.
She spent summers at her step-grandparents farm in West Richfield, Ohio and lived in Geneva until her dad died in 1929 when she was 12.
She appeared in the 1930 Richfield Twp census with Parker & Abbie Lee on a farm on Brecksville Rd.
She and her step-mother went to live with her step-grandparents and she went to the country school in Richfield for 7th & 8th grades.
She moved to Cleveland to live with her Aunt Alice Flory and went to Audubon Jr. HS for 9th grade and graduated from John Adams HS in June 1934.
Marge was 22 and was a waitress when she married George Alexander Duesler, he was 36, on June 25, 1938 in Cleve. They were married by a Justice of the Peace.
She was 26 when her only daughter, Jane Ann was born in 1942. The family lived with George's mother Eva & sister Daisy & Ed Berigan in the family home on 90th St.
She divorced in 1952 and worked two jobs to support herself & Jane. After the divorce they moved to an upper duplex at 11301 Parkview Dr.
Marge worked as a secretary most of her adult life, working for Ramsey Trucking for many years.
She was 43 when she married Joseph Benis in Nov. 1959.
Marge & Joe moved to 8014 Kenilworth St. in Parma in 1961 where they lived until her death. They had been married 22 years when she died on Jan. 29, 1981 at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital from heart failure due to lung cancer at age 64. She was cremated and Joe had her ashes until his death. It is unknown what happened to them, likely thrown away! Joe lived in Parma until Oct. 2003 when he was put into a nursing home. He passed away in Oct. 2005.
Marge was about 5' 2" tall, had hazel eyes & reddish brown hair as a child but dyed her hair as an adult to strawberry blonde. She had many freckles & was very nearsighted.
Marge loved to play cards, knitted, crocheted & sewed her own clothes, and refinished furniture.
She loved her three grandchildren, but only got to see them four or five times a year after her daughter & son in law moved away from Cleveland in 1966. She was of English and German heritage.
Her father's Flory line came from Palatinate, Germany to Rapho Twp, PA in 1733.
Her father's mother, Jane Hopkins was a descendant of Stephen Hopkins who came over on the Mayflower from England in 1620.

Informant was Joseph Benis, her 2nd husband. She was born in Ohio on April 13, 1916. Her father was Lynn Scott Flory and her mother was Florence Mabel Harding. She was cremated and Joe kept the ashes until his death when they were likely discarded.
