Born on June 13, 1920 in Kingston, NY, the son of the late James Finerty and Elsie Borgwardt.
A US Army Air Corps veteran, he served during World War II, from 1942 to 1945 as a navigator over Germany aboard B-17s. Mr. Finerty was also a veteran of the Korean War.
He resided in Saratoga Springs since 1964.
A former resident of Kingston, NY and a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1937, he also resided in Hunter, NY.
His employment included working on tug boats in New York City and was also employed by the New York Telephone Company, retiring after 37 years.
He was married to the former Mary Herring in September, 1945. She is still residing in Saratoga Springs.
In addition to his wife; survivors include five children: John, Donald, Emily, Michael, and Mary; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services with military honors was conducted on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
