A. Hammond, who states DOB Feb 1837 in Oglethorpe Co, GA, has a CSA pension on line in the GA archives virtual vault. He says he enlisted in Troup County, Ga in March 1861 and served with Company E of the 41st GA regiment. At the surrender time, his unit was near Greensboro, N. C. and they were cut off by the burned bridge at the Congrea river.
