Lola Elswick Sparks, age 89, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the home of her son in Marion, Virginia where she has made her home since 2007. She was born May 2, 1923 in Tazewell County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Noah and Carley Young Elswick both Tazewell County, Virginia natives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Sparks in 1968; one daughter, Ruby Walk; one son, Bob Sparks; daughter-in-law, Norma Sparks; one sister, Loma Mullins and three brothers, Lacy Elswick, Brady Elswick and Alvin Elswick.

She is survived by:

Two Sons:
Jim Sparks and wife, Carrie of Marion, Virginia
Rick Davis and wife, Melanie of Kingsport, Tennessee

Son-in-Law, Ernie Walk of Cedar Bluff, Virginia

Nine Grandchildren:
Susan Short, Vicki Pruitt, Terry Davis, Tim Walk, Jared Sparks, Greg Sparks, Veronica Bostic, Kim McMurray, Jonathan Davis

Twelve Great Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and sister-in-laws also survive.

Funeral services for Lola Elswick Sparks will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with her nephew, Rev. Monte Elswick officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Friday, December 14, 2012 after 6:00 pm at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home, 1401 Second Street; Richlands, Virginia.
