Walter J. Brochhausen Sr., 83, of Randolph, N.J., formerly of Whitestone, N.Y., died Friday, Sept. 10, at St. Clare's Hospital/Dover, Dover, N.J. He was the husband of Ethel (Lehr) Brochhausen. They were married 62 years.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., he graduated from Stroudsburg High School.
Retiring in 1985, he was self-employed as a sign painter in Bayside, N.Y. He was an avid golfer.
He was a member of Resurrection Parish, Randolph, N.J.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Walter of Randolph, N.J., James of Stowe, Vt., and Peter of Middlebury, Conn.; one daughter, Carole-Anne Lange of New Hyde Park, N.Y.; one brother, Rudy of East Northport, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Lawrence in 1994; and one granddaughter, Charlotte in 2000.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at St. Paul's Reformed Cemetery, Swiftwater.
A funeral mass was held Monday, Sept. 13, at Resurrection Parish, Randolph, N.J. Visitation took place Sunday, Sept. 12, at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10, Randolph, N.J.
