"RED" BAKER
Arthur "Red" Baker, 76, son of
Marshall and Emma Baker, was
bdm May 20,1914, at Houston. He
died June 19, 1990, at the Texas
County Memorial Hospital in
Houston.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army July
2,1941, where he served in Combat
Qualified Infantry in New Guinea
and Luzon. He received an
American theater medal. Good
Conduct Medal, Combat Infantry
Badge, Asiatic Pacific Theater
Medal with two Bronze Service
Stars, Purple Heart, Philippine
Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze
Service Stars and American
Defense Medal. He was wounded
Feb. 27, 1945, in Luzon and
discharged Dec. 15,1945.
He drove a livestock truck for
Dale Martin for a time.
Surviving are one brother, Jim
Baker of Houston, Texas; and three
sisters, Jessie Courtney of Denison,
Texas, and Helen Greeney and
Virginia Asselin of Houston.
Services were June 22 at the
Evans Funeral Home Chapel with
the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating.
Burial was in the Pine Lawn
Cemetery.
