Rose Marie (Meloy) Roub, 75, of 911 Green Ave., Altoona, died Wednesday at Altoona Regional after an extended illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of Joseph and Verna (Meloy) . She married Joseph F. Roub Sr. on Nov. 27, 1954, in Altoona.

Surviving are her husband; two sons: Joseph Jr. of Altoona and Jack (Doreen) of Johnstown; three daughters: Julia Vallade (Paul) in Maryland, Jeannette Shannon of Altoona and Rose Mary Roub of Altoona; nine grandchildren: Ryan Shannon, Erin Shumac, Sean Shannon, Andrew Vallade, Kimberly Vallade, Christin Roub, Joseph Roub III, Anthony Roub and John Roub; six great-grandchildren: Cameron Shannon, Kailah Shannon and Seamas, Kinley, Maeve and Meallan Shumac; two brothers: Raymond Eckenrode of Pittsburgh and John Eckenrode of Altoona; and two sisters: Elizabeth MacFarlane of Altoona and Mary Robb (William) of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Rhinehart; and a son-in-law, Patrick Shannon.

Rose attended St. Mark's Catholic Church and First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and housewife and previously was employed at the Jaffa Shrine and Altoona Shoe Factory.

Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a mother to all who knew her, and her home and heart were open to all. Family was everything to her, and most people she considered family.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Stevens Memorial Chapel by Pastor Jerry Sneath. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.

Stepfather was Joseph Eckenrode. I am Rose's granddaughter. Due to an Ancestry DNA test I took, I believe her biological father was a E.M. Moloney (1916-1973).
