During a revival of religion, under Rev. P.P. Bliss she made a public confession of faith, was baptized and joined the First Free Will Baptist Church May 4th, 1862, of which she has always been a loyal and consistent member.
She was married Oct. 30, 1862 to Leonard A. Jenkins, who died, March 3, 1897. To this union were born six children: Austin N. Jenkins of Washington, D.C., Merrill O. Jenkins, who died May 25, 1895, Jennio L. Grahm, of Amhurst, Mass., Lena Jenkins, who died at Monroe, Feb. 4, 1916, Ida M. Clark of Sun River, Montana, Dora J. Collett of Quincy, Michigan. She had seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
August 5, 1920, she sold her home in S. Wayne and went to live with her daughter Jennie at Amherst, Mass. She had suffered for years with arthritis and soon after going to Mass, became so lame that she was confined to her room. Two years later she became helpless and was taken to a private Sanitarium for old ladies where everything possible was done to relieve her suffering. She died Aug. 31, of cerebral hemorrhage. Her age was 81 years, 7 months.
Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church in South Wayne, Friday Sept. 4, 1925 with interment in the Eastman Cemetery, Rev. W.O. Wilhelmsen officiating.
