"Rev. Orrin Hix, was born in Montpelier, VT. Sept 11, 1807, and died in Benton, IA, March 5, 1880. He went to Ohio in youth, married Sally Gregory in 1831, and commenced ministerial work in 1840, receiving ordination five years later.
He continued to labor in Ohio until 1854, and then took up the work in the Van Buren Quarterly Meeting, Iowa. He had a social and kind dispsosition, a charitable spirit, winning a large circle of friends and holding the confidence of the good."
