VICTOR NORRIS ABELES, 67, of Paris, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral services are set for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Norris and Neil Abeles officiating.

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery with Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Victor was born April 24, 1945, the youngest of four sons born to Edward Abeles and Christine Sharp Abeles.

He attended Graham Elementary School, Paris High School and graduated from East Texas State University. He was retired from Campbell Soup Company having worked there for 40 years and was currently employed part time with HWH Construction. Victor was an avid pilot, flying was his passion. Not only a pilot, he held an Inspection Authorization (IA) rating qualifying him to perform mechanical and frame inspections of general aviation aircraft. He also loved to fly radio controlled planes and had served as President of the local R.C. Club. Victor had a soft spot in his heart for animals, often taking in strays or adopting others from the shelter. He was also a sports official, having officiated High School basketball and football for over 25 years.

On November 12, 2011, he married his college sweetheart, Vickie Worley Swain. They had recently celebrated their one year anniversary.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie; a stepson, Zach Swain and wife, Melanie; sister-in-law, Rene' Dendy; mother-in-law, Karon Worley; grandchildren, Will Swain and Jordan Bell; brothers, Dan, Ned and Neil Abeles; and many nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Bill Madding, Johnny Parker, Donnie Dickerson, Ray Whitman, Rick Rushin and Eric Clifford. Honorary pallbearers are Zach Swain, Joe Farmer, Robert High, Dave Cook and Chip Harper.
