Dr. Holiman was born in Ranger, Texas, April 10, 1900 and was 75 years old when he died of a heart attack.
He moved to Canon City in 1922 and began his practice in an office at 403-1/2 Main St. Several years later he moved his practice to offices over the First National Bank adjoining the offices of Dr. Stanley Roberts, DDS; W. A. "Bill McKenzie", and an apartment occupied by George Nix. When Shields Shoe Repair moved, Dr. Holiman moved his practice to the ground floor in the back of the First National Bank. Later when the bank expanded he moved to 405 Main Street and continued his practice there until his retirement until 1968.
He is noted as being one of the best fisherman and sportsmen in Fremont County. Dr. Holiman was an active member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for 47 years in Canon City. He is a past president of the Canon Lions Club and of the Colorado Chorpratic Association. He was a life member of the latter. The Canon Elks Club voted Dr. Holiman "Man of the Year" in 1965 and 1966. He was a charter member of the Fremont County Game and Fish Association.
He lived at the Royal Gorge Manor during his retirement.
Dr. Holiman is survived by his son, C.E. Holiman of Littleton and his daughters, Beverly Ann Wallace of Billings, Mont., and Sue Beth Holiman of Englewood. Others survivors include two brothers and sister, Dan Holiman of McAllen, Texas, Joe Holiman and Florence Cate of San Angelo, Texas.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m.at the Holt and Wilson Almont Chapel of the Garden. Burial will be at the Lakeside Cemetery.
