She was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Aberdeen, S.D. She was married to Herbert Vonderlage on Oct. 9, 1938, in Hooper and the couple had celebrated their 66th anniversary. They met while attending Midland Lutheran College. A 35-year resident of Fremont, she worked for the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the Dodge County Judge and the Republican party. She also volunteered with the Red Cross for many years. She was very active in Trinity Lutheran Church and School. She had belonged to the Mary and Martha Society. She started both the grade school and preschool Parent Teachers Association at Trinity. This earned her recognition from the National Parent Teachers Association with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

A Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader through the 1950s, she started new programs such as the annual Mother-Daughter Tea and the Halloween Costume Party. She also taught an extensive program on the 1960 national election as the foundation of a a new Government Awareness badge.

She and her husband Herbert spent the first part of their retirement years in Colorado Springs, Colo. There, she continued her hobby as a master seamstress and won a Colorado State Fair ribbon for her counted cross stock work. She and her husband returned to Omaha in 1998.

Survivors include: her husband, Herbert L. Vonderlage; a son, Richard (and wife, Linda) Vonderlage of Omaha; a daughter, Susan (Mrs. William) Hammer of Annapolis, Md.; four grandchildren, Paul and Darrin Vonderlage and Traci (Mrs. Mark) Scott, all of Omaha, and Jeffrey (Mrs. Kimberly) Miller of Ellicott City, Md.; and two great-grandchildren, Julia and Abigail Miller of Ellicott City.

She was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Lance Vonderlage in 1954, a brother, Dean Pfeiffer, and her parents.

The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 20844 Bonanza Boulevard, south of Elkhorn. The Revs. David Linkugel and Kip Tyler will officiate. There is no public visitation. Burial will be later in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
