HAZEL IRENE CLEGHORN
(September 5, 1916 - November 29, 2011)
Hazel Irene Cleghorn, 95, of Walker, Minnesota passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Walker. Hazel was born September 5, 1916 in Gaza, Iowa to John and Harriet (Wilson) Perry. She attended school, and graduated from Gaza High School in a class size of three. She was married to Rollie Cleghorn in 1940 and they farmed for six years in Sutherland, Iowa prior to their move "north" to Walker. They owned and operated Rollie's Deep Rock Station in Walker and the APCO Service Station in Bemidji for many years. Hazel was widowed in 1977 but continued to be very active in her church and community. She was very involved as a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol, and also worked at the Chamber of Commerce. As a longtime member of the Community Church she was always active in her service to her church community, and sang in the church choir for many years. Hazel enjoyed gardening, travelling, and spending time with her family. Hazel was a survivor who "lived well" and remained strong in her faith. She will be missed. Hazel is survived by her daughter Rolla (Jerry) Bialke, Grandchildren; Kimberly Hanson (Chad) Kruckeberg, Anthony Bialke (Nicola Cofer), and Pamela (Chad) Nelson, ten great grandchildren,sister-in-law Margaret Perry, and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rollie, one sister Nettie, and four brothers; Charles, Wilson, Chester, and Dale. A Memorial Service to Celebrate Hazel's life will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Walker Community Church with Rev. Dan Batson officiating. There will be a gathering for family and friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Walker. Memorials preferred to the American Diabetes Association.
