"Surprising his parents and friends with the announcement of his marriage on July 5, Harold Taylor, an employee of The Rustic, last Tuesday brought his bride of a month here from her home in Larned, Kans. They are residing with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Taylor.

A NOTE ABOUT JOHN A. JOHNSON (father of Kathryn) - The 1940 U.S. Federal Census states Etta Johnson (mother of Kathryn) is Widowed. However, it is known in the family that he left the house one day between 1930 and 1935 for his job (traveling salesman) and never returned to his home. No one has ever learned what happened to him.

Harold and Kathryn Taylor moved from Lebanon, Laclede, Missouri to Indiana. There they were blessed with a third son, Max Leroy Taylor on January 2, 1938 in Logansport, Cass, Indiana.

"TWO NEW YEAR'S BIRTHS REPORTED IN CASS COUNTY

At least two New Year day babies were born in Cass county.

The first to be reported is a seven pound daughter, Marilyn Sue, born at 6:10 o'clock Saturday morning to Mr. and Mrs. Howard Elpers, 1337 College Street, with Dr. John Davis as attending physician.

The second is an eight pound son, Jackie Louis, born at 3 p.m. Saturday to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Umbarger of Walton with Dr. E.A. Spohn attending.

Cooperation of parents and physicians is asked to the PHAROS-TRIBUNE, as this newspaper desires to supply information to merchants who have cooperated in the movement to give the first 1938 baby born in Cass county a number of gifts.

Neither of the two hospitals report a New Year day baby this year. Cass county hospital, however, reports a son born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold G. Taylor, 507 West Linden Avenue, Sunday. Ten babies were born at that hospital from Christmas to the end of 1937."

In January of 1944, while living on the Carter farm near Waverly, Cass, Indiana, the family suffered a severe loss. Their house caught fire during the night and they were only able to escape with the clothing on their backs. A stove or refrigerator was the only item in the house that was saved. The loss of all family photos was one of the biggest losses, as they could not be replaced.
