He was born in Harrisburg, on Monday, June 8, 1942, son of the late Edward Stewart Armstrong, Jr. and Dorothy Mae (Clelan) Armstrong.
Army graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1961.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served from 1961 to 1964 with the 82nd Airborne.
In December 2001, Army retired from the Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Mechanicsburg in December 2001 after twenty-three years of service.
He was a member of the Mechanicsburg Club - where he served as a past secretary, the Elks, and the American Legion Post 109 in Mechanicsburg.
Army was a fun loving guy who always had a joke or two.
He was the widower of Patricia Ann (Benner) Armstrong who died on August 1, 2000. Also preceding him in death were three brothers: George Armstrong, Barry Armstrong, and Jesse Turner.
Army's survivors include his four sisters: Frances "Fran" Arlene Peebles, Helen "Cookie" Metallo and her husband Joe, Dorothy Erickson, and Tammy Margo; and, one brother: Steve Turner all of whom are from Mechanicsburg.
All are welcome to join his family for his viewing on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 09:00 until time of his service at 10:30 AM at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg with Celebrant Alan Echard officiating.
Burial will immediately follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery where Army will be reunited with his wife, Patricia, and where they will be buried together.
