Robert Sigler, 94, of 1918 South Walnut Street, a former president of the Pine Bluff Chamber of Commerce and the retired manager of a cotton oil mill here, died Friday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Born in Lexington, Mississippi, Stigler was a son of Marion L. and Lina Cole Stigler.
He grew up in Yazoo City, Mississippi, and married Margaret Mosal in Canton, Mississippi, on April 28, 1920. She died seven days ago.
He moved to Pine Bluff in 1935 and managed the Pine Bluff Cotton Oil Mill (then a division of Armour and Company). He retired in August 1958.
He had served in the Army during World War I, seeing action in Europe in the Battle of the Marne and the Battle of Verdun. He was a member of the Last Man Club of Pine Bluff.
He was a past president of the Pine Bluff Rotary Club, which he joined in 1936, and an original member of the Board of Directors of the O. C. Hauber Foundation.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Dr. Robert L. Stigler, Jr.
Graveside services were scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today at Graceland Cemetery, with Reverend Mark A. Linder officiating. Ralph Robinson & Son Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
