"Ella" Smallwood Long was the daughter of Thomas G. and Martha J (Daniel) Smallwood. She married William Washington Long on September 6, 1893 in Campbellton County, Georgia. Together they raised nine children, five daughters and four sons.

TIFTON/WARM SPRINGS - Ella Smallwood Long, 74, of Tifton and Warm Springs, Georgia died Sunday, July 11, 1954, at Tift General Hospital. Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 1954, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. W. T. Bodenhammer, Rev. W. G. Harry and Rev. Oscar Bullock officiated and burial followed in Manchester Cemetery. Russell Willis, Roy Hall, Eric Ross, Lourie Blount, Virgil Cooper and M.G. Brady served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Long was born on October 18, 1880 in Douglas County, Georgia and was the daughter of Tom G. Smallwood and Ellen Daniel Smallwood, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William W. Long, who died on July 17, 1943. She had lived in Tifton since March 1954 from Warm Springs, Georgia.
Mrs. Long is survived by four sons, T. J. Long of Warm Springs, Georgia, C. H. Long of Concord, North Carolina, H. W. Long of Buffalo, New York and A. E. Long of Mansfield, Ohio; five daughters, Mrs. H. T. Camp of Lenox, Georgia, Mrs. C. M. Camp of Tifton, Georgia, Mrs. Mattie Lee Walker of Wichita, Kansas, Mrs. Alma Smith of Manchester, Georgia and Mrs. Lillie Marshall of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Lacey of Hapeville, Georgia and Mrs. C. C. Reynolds of Ben Hill, Georgia; 29 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
