Travis O. Segars
Travis O. Segars, 90, of Royston, died Wednesday, December 12, 2001, at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston.
Mr. Segars was born October 22, 1911, in Banks County, a son of the late Luther Doctor Segars and the late Lenora Norton Segars.
He was a retired insurance agent with Life of Georgia and was a member of Royston Baptist Church. Mr. Segars was three times married, first to the late Verna Skelton Segars, and second to the late Buena Skelton Segars.
In addition to his parents and wives, Mr. Segars was preceded in death by four brothers, Loy, Oscar, Condis and Dwayne Segars, and two sisters, Ruby Duncan and Sue Ostean.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 14, at Royston Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Holland, Richard Bielski and Byron Greene officiating. Burial was in Nancy Hart Memorial Park, Hartwell. Wade Ayers, Todd Craft, Ben Norris, Rodger Davison, Larry Skelton and Jason Cheek served as pallbearers.
Mr. Segars is survived by his wife, Bertie M. Segars, Royston; daughter, Lenora Craft, Royston; grandchildren, Dr. Daniel Travis Craft, Anderson, S.C., and Alice Cheek, Bowersville; great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Jason Cheek, Bowersville; step-daughters, Jeanette Harris, Stone Mountain, Donna Chambers, Hartwell, and Nan Hudgins, Snellville; step-sons, Bondsie Skelton and Larry Skelton, both of Hartwell; brother, Tommy Segars, Bowman; sisters, Lessie Ayers, Royston, Lozelle Cape, Hull, Sara Phillips and Patricia Poole, both of Athens, and Celeste Shiflet, Hartwell; nine step-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Royston Baptist Church, 767 Church Street, Royston, GA 30662.
