Mrs. Sadie Thrift Pittman, 89, died Thursday night (December 6, 2012) at her residence following a brief illness. She would have celebrated her 90th birthday January 29, 2013.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County; she was the wife of the late Floyd Pittman, and daughter of the late Mose Thrift and Sinnie Catherine Carter Thrift. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Jackie Lee Pittman, and Junior Pittman, a sister, Betty Carter and two brothers, Lester Thrift and Sylvester "Preacher" Thrift.
Mrs. Pittman was a homemaker and loved quilting, working in her flowers and in her garden. She was a member of Suwannee Chapel Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include 4 daughters, Letha Joiner (husband Jerry) of Waycross, Bernice Jernigan (husband Troy) of Phoenixville, PA, Genese Smart (husband Gene) of Blackshear, and Annie Jane Scurry (husband Larry) of Blackshear; a son, Curtis Pittman (wife Kay) ; a daughter-in-law, Laila Pittman of Waycross; 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives including 2 special nieces, Frances Norton and Belva Ruegg both of Jacksonville, FL.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday (December 10, 2012) at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Suwannee Chapel Cemetery near Manor. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at Music Funeral Home.
