James Joseph Mullan was a detective with the NYPD Intelligence Division and an expert on organized crime for the NYPD and the Manhattan district attorney's office. The son of James C. and Julia (Heffernan) Mullan, he was the husband of Bridie (O'Riordan) Mullan (died 1960) and Anne B. (Connolly) Mullan (died 1995). He was the father of three police officers and the brother of Raymond, Joseph, Rev. William, and Julia Ann. A full obituary appeared in the Daily News, March 22, 1998.
