Mr. Kern was a veteran of WWI and a member of First Lutheran Church. He was born April 26, 1894 in Hesper Township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Valentine and Louise Kern. He received his education in rural schools and was married Nov. 12, 1930 by the Rev. O. Sandbach at the Methodist Parsonage to Margie Banning Kern who lives at 908 Mechanic St.
Other survivors are a daughter, Charmaine, at home. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Emmons Kern and Valentine Kern, who died in infancy.
