Henry Lane Hazelrigg was the son of Harvey Gregg and Mary (Jameson) Hazelrigg. Captain Henry Lane Hazelrigg, Company K, 40th Indiana Volunteers, died in the tragic explosion and sinking of the Mississippi River steamboat paddlewheeler, SS Sultana, near Memphis, Tennessee.

For more information about the Sultana tragedy, visit the memorial of Sgt. Benjamin Franklin, another Boone County, Indiana prisoner of war who lost his life aboard the Sultana. Sgt. Franklin is also buried in Lebanon's Oak Hill Cemetery.
