She was born Feb. 3, 1933, in Surry County to Jessie Ernest and Wavie Rodgers Simmons.
Mrs. Conrad was retired from the Quality Control Department at Hanes Hosiery Co. and was owner and operator of Conrad's Beauty Shop in Pilot Mountain. Mrs. Conrad was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Pilot Mountain.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil Conrad, of the home; a daughter-in-law, Sherri Lawson Conrad of Pilot Mountain; three grandchildren, Ira Candice Conrad of Mount Airy, Lindsey Shae Conrad and Cody Simmons Conrad, both of Pilot Mountain; a sister-in-law, Shirley Simmons of Pilot Mountain; and two brothers-in-law and their wives, Dick and Augusta Conrad of King and Coy and Ernestine Conrad of Tobaccoville.
Mrs. Conrad was preceded in death by a son, Chip Simmons Conrad, in February 1994.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at First Presbyterian Church of Pilot Mountain conducted by the Rev. Bruce Hodges and the Rev. Jesse Bledsoe. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
