Wanda Christensen Memmott, age 81, passed away December 4, 2012 in Nephi, Utah.

She was born January 16, 1931 in Moroni, Utah to Darwin and Verbena Sudweeks Christensen. She was born premature and weighed only 3 pounds. Dr. Dice delivered her, and because her mother was very ill and they were afraid that she would die, they put her in a shoe box on the stove oven while he worked to save her mother. She was joined by her sister Joyce in the family, and was later joined by Lois. She married her high school sweetheart, Dan Memmott on Dec. 10, 1949 in Levan. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple and they were companions for 63 years. Right after they both graduated from high School they moved to Helper, Utah, where Dan worked on the railroad and then to Nephi where he worked at the Thermoid Rubber Plant and as a cement contractor. She worked at the Nephi Hospital as a nurses aid and then at Colonial Mannor rest home as a laundry lady. They were blessed with two sons, Jeffery born in 1950 and Danny born in 1951 and also foster a daughter Loretta Yazzie. She served in the Primary, M.I.A., Sunday School, Relief Society, as Cub Scout leader, and the best calling was to serve in Queensland Australia Mission with her husband.

She is survived by her husband, Dan; sons, Jeffery (Carman) and their 4 children; Danny (Shauna) and their 9 children; 26 great grandchildren; sister, Lois (Ed) Jessen. Preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Joyce and her husband Ken.

A Special thanks to Dr. James Besendorfer, President Craig Hitchcock, the doctors, nurses and staff at the Nephi Medical Center and Utah Valley Hospital, and wonderful Nephi Ambulance crew.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 in the Nephi Stake Center, 351 North 100 West.
