Funeral services for Cleo Phillips Shipman, 93, of Corinth are set for 2 p.m. today at Gospel Tabernacle with Bro. Gary Hodum officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. McPeters Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Shipman died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Alcorn Health and Rehab. Born Jan. 18, 1909, she was the third person in the state of Mississippi to receive an L. P. N. license. She worked for more than 35 years in the McRae Hospital, Community Hospital and Magnolia Regional Health Center. Following this she did private duty nursing. She was one of the founders and a charter member of Gospel Tabernacle and has been a devoted member. Her hobbies were collecting and dressing dolls.

Mrs. Shipman was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Shipman; her parents, Joseph (John!) and Josephine Phillips; and one grandson, Phillip Briggs.

Survivors include two sons, James Leevirl Shipman and Charles Shipman, both of Corinth; two daughters, Virginia Briggs and Geneva Putt, both of Corinth; three brothers, Millard Phillips, Garvin Phillips and Johnny Phillips, all of Corinth; four sisters, Callie Douglas and Ruby Rickman, both of Corinth, Eunice Bugg of Guys, Tenn., and Emma James of Memphis, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
