Obituary from Orem-Geneva Times (Orem, UT) - Wednesday, December 9, 1987:
John Oliver Guymon, 92, of Orem, died Friday, December 4, 1987 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo of a lingering illness.
He was born March 5, 1895 in Huntington, Emery County, a son of John Wesley and Mary Ann Roper Guymon. He married Ora Viola Prestwich April 7, 1921 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Orem 108th Ward.
He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Timpanogos Barracks. He was a grain farmer in Emery County until 1940 and a fruit farmer for many years in Orem. He was also employed by Utah Power & Light Company.
Survivors include his wife, Ora Prestwich Guymon, of Orem; three sons and six daughters: Donald J. Guymon, Highland; Melvin O. Guymon, San Diego, California; Leon W. Guymon, Viola Syddall, Mrs. Eugene R. (Lois) Swan, all of Orem; Mrs. Bert (Melba) Greenhagen, West Valley; Mrs. J. Glade (Arlene) Sorenson, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. James D. (Joan) Solomon, Twin Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Charles T. (Hazel) Greenland, Salem; 48 grandchildren and 91 great-grandchildren; one brother, Niel B. Guymon, Dragerton. Two grandchildren preceded him in death.
Funeral was Tuesday in Orem. Burial was in Orem City Cemetery and full military rites were conducted by VFW District No. 4.
